Portal Project: “One Man’s Trash” performed by Cirque Us
For Rural Arts Collaborative, 2022 is the year of traveling through time. We’re looking back at our founders and honoring the original intentions of Spark, WonderArts, and GRACE, and bringing forward the “Golden Eggs” that are the most important parts of our organization’s history. Our Portal Project series is a set of four events that combine performance and hands on experiences, traveling through the Portal into the past and returning through it with lessons learned back to the present.
The first performance in our series will be held on Wednesday, August 24 at the Circus Smirkus camp in Greensboro. “One Man’s Trash” is a performance by circus company Cirque Us, created and performed for the first time in 2016, and reimagined for new audiences this summer.
About the Show
“One Man’s Trash” is a story of creation and recreation. In the true spirit of the circus, revised and reimagined for 2022, our show challenges the possibilities of the everyday. “One Man’s Trash” reclaims and reanimates all that’s left in trash cans and littered in the garage to create a junkyard adventure like none other. Truly, our cast of inventive acrobats, high-flying aerialists, and quirky clowns are bursting to welcome you into their world! So, grab your garbage bags, pick up the recycling, and get ready to laugh and cheer as this repurposed circus turns trash into treasure.
