The Artist

Bernice Johnston

Bernice Johnston was born in North Danville, Vermont, in 1908. She lived all her life in the St. Johnsbury area. Her final years were as a resident of the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center. She started painting when she came to the center in 1984. Bernice painted pictures of animals because, as she says “they just seem to come to me.”  Bernice passed away in 1993.
