The Artist
Eugene Chase
Eugene H. Chase, a resident of Middlesex, Vermont, found solace and purpose within the embrace of his family's farm. Alongside his mother, father, and brother, Eugene immersed himself in farming, gardening, and the art of canning. Fueled by a passion for staying busy and working outdoors, he discovered additional creative outlets during the winter months, including quilting, wood carving, and jigsaw puzzles. Even after relocating to Williamstown, Eugene continued these activities, finding joy and fulfillment in his new surroundings.
Eugene's artistic journey began at the age of eight when his mother gifted him an art traveler's paint kit. In his spare time, he dedicated himself to the creation of countless pictures, working to develop his skills. By the time he turned fourteen, Eugene delved into bottle paint and watercolor, producing artworks that he sold from his home. The beauty of the landscapes he encountered during his car rides served as inspiration to be later translated onto paper through his drawings.
