Maggie Smith
Maggie Smith's journey began in Danville, Vermont, where she was born in 1894. Despite using a wheelchair from 1923 onwards, she embraced life with unyielding energy. Her connection with the Vermont landscape, so deeply ingrained, found expression through her artwork, which commenced in 1976 during her residency at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center. A dedicated participant, Maggie frequented the weekly GRACE workshop, her artistic pursuits continuing to flourish until her passing in 1992. Her story is one of resilience and creative spirit, a testament to the power of art to transcend limitations and capture the essence of a cherished landscape.
