About the Show

This exhibition showcases the current work of artists from the Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) alongside artwork from the GRACE archives. Archival works were selected to compliment the wide ranging subjects and themes explored by the NKHS artists. The animal world, nature scenes, and adventures into the abstract are all on display in this celebration of local creativity and artistic history!

About GRACE

The Grassroots Arts and Community Effort (GRACE) was founded over 50 years ago on the principle that everyone is an artist who wants to be. GRACE programs provide inspirational, open-ended, and judgment-free art-making experiences where community members of all abilities create using mediums and materials of their choosing.

Over the years, the GRACE Community Workshops yielded an enormous body of artwork by the workshop participants. Many of those pieces have been left to us to sell, protect, and exhibit, as you see here!

Working with NKHS

Rural Arts Collaborative was recently asked by the Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) to bring the GRACE program to their site in the Saint Johnsbury area. Much like in the original GRACE workshops, participants are encouraged to explore new mediums while developing comfort with creative self expression. Sessions often begin with a prompt, but the final product is entirely of the artist’s creation.
