Full Moon Pizza Party at the Community Greenspace
Fire up the cobb oven, chop up some local toppings, and haul out the lawn games: we’re having a pizza party! Bring a potluck dish to share, or your favorite toppings to add to our offerings, if you like. Our community activity this month is autumn garland making and a fall woodland scavenger hunt! Full Moon Pizza Parties happen monthly around the time of the full moon, so keep us in mind as the nights get brighter…
Pizza Party staples:
Music
Wood fired pizza by donation
Lawn games—bocci, corn hole, giant Jenga
Kid’s or community activity
What is a pop up pizza party? Pop up means we are going to choose the best day of the month to host the party when the weather is warm and people want to get out and play. Don’t worry, we’ll let you know when it’s happening!
How will I know when the party’s happening? You’ll know it’s time when you see the feather flags flying at the Craftsbury Greenspace. Plan to join us around the time of the full moon each month, then watch our website for the selected date. We’ll choose a day when the weather is sunny and warm.
Why schedule around the full moon? Eating seasonal foods and finding community through eating meals together are two favorite things in Vermont. Our Pizza Party is guided in part by the wisdom and recipes of accomplished chef and passionate food activist, Jessica Prentice. Her book Full Moon Feast, “invites us to a table brimming with locally grown foods, radical wisdom, and communal nourishment.” Since our event is outside and weather dependent, we will aim to gather on the full moon, and land on a good weather day nearby.
What about beer? This is a BYOB event, and adults 21+ may bring an alcoholic beverage to be enjoyed responsibly, by people 21 and older only. We will provide iced tea and water.
How much does it cost? Donations are encouraged, but not required. This event is for anyone and everyone who wants to come! If you’d like to make a donation, we suggest $10 per person to help pay for the firewood, pizza ingredients, and entertainment. Thank you for your support!
What should I bring? We recommend bringing lawn chairs or a picnic blanket. Some tables and chairs are available. A potluck table will be set up, so bring something seasonal from your garden to share if you like! If you have special dietary requirements, bring your own gluten free crust or non-dairy toppings, and we’ll make your special pizza for you.
