GRACE Gallery Opening | Dot Kibbee & Larry Bissonette
Rural Arts Collaborative invites you to reconnect with our programs and spaces with three open house days. Don't miss the celebratory launch of our new website, class calendar, and gallery space! Each open house features an all ages activity, a grab-bag takeaway, and time to meet the staff and explore our spaces.
GRACE will be open for visitors from 12 pm until 7 pm on Saturday, May 21, with an opening reception for the Dot Kibbee and Larry Bissonnette shows beginning at 5 pm.
About the Opening
The GRACE gallery, located in the Old Firehouse at 59 Mill Street, Hardwick, is reopening with an exhibit of selected artwork by Dot Kibbee and Larry Bissonnette. GRACE will be open all day to welcome people dropping by. Please come visit and celebrate with us: see our new updated space, view artwork and just say “Hello.” The opening reception will begin at 5 pm. This exhibit will run from May 21 - Aug 20, 2022.
About GRACE exhibits: The GRACE Gallery is a large, open room with high ceilings, large windows open when the weather is nice, and a ramp at the front door. Artwork in the gallery in the back is hung at a comfortable height for viewers who use wheelchairs, and the walls of the workshop space feature more work by various artists. Artwork labels are in large print, and audio descriptions will be made available upon request.
Please note: masks are still required inside the gallery.
About the Artists
Dot Kibbee was born in Worcester, MA in 1916, and went to nursing school in New Hampshire. She spent most of her life in Hardwick, VT, where she was a community nurse or many years. Her style of painting is unique and features heavily patterned renderings of imaginary landscapes inhabited by snakes, butterflies, turtles, and tiny people. Her artwork is in many private collections and has been exhibited throughout the region as well as nationally and internationally. View Dot Kibbee’s work in the Digital Archive, or stop in to see more of her work for sale.
Larry Bissonnette was born in Winooski, Vermont in 1957. Larry has always shown irrepressible creativity. He was drawing prolifically at age five. He was a consistent member of the GRACE workshop for many years, and still enjoys showing examples of his tremendous output.
